What you need to know about Homerton

Homerton

Homerton is a locality within the London Borough of Hackney and considered to be one of the larger districts in the borough. It is located east of Hackney Central and occupies most of the borough’s south-east corner. Homerton is one of Hackney’s most densely-populated neighbourhoods and occupied by several blocks of more affordable post-War flats in addition to its other residential properties. It is often considered the cultural centre of Hackney due to having a large number of local artists, several music recording studios, and an arts centre in the area. The High Street, while not as busy as it once was, still has several parades of shops and is complemented by the shopping centres of Hackney Central. Homerton is served by its own railway station, which has trains heading east and westbound, while the nearby Hackney Downs and London Fields stations provide the area with essential access to Liverpool Street station and the rest of central London.
