ELWA (East London Waste Authority) has been set up between Redbridge, Havering, Barking & Dagenham and Newham to deal with waste more efficiently in East London along with the waste contractor Havering Recycling Service, however their performance has been poor when it comes to recycling, the authorities in RM3 managed a recycling rate of 0.3856, which is low when comparing it with other areas in Europe, 60%+ should be achievable. We send 0.6144 of waste to landfill which needs to change.
