What you need to know about Islington

Islington

Islington, in the Greater London area, is one of the region’s main residential districts and is part of the London Borough of Islington. Sitting on a hill that boasts a long history of supplying the City with water, Islington has one of the densest populations in the country which, over the years, has earned the distinction of being one of the most diverse as well. Its busiest sections include Upper Street, which largely serves as its main shopping hub, the original Islington High Street, and the Angel business improvement district or BID, which comprises the development area around the Angel tube station that extends further into two of Islington's neighbouring districts within the borough. Other points of interest include Almeida Theatre, London Art House, and Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. The district is one of the busiest in Inner London and, consequently, has an extremely wide range of transport options. It is served by numerous bus routes and has access to multiple tube, railway, and interchange stations, including Highbury and Islington, Drayton Park, Essex Road, and Angel.
