What you need to know about Wood Green

Wood Green

Wood Green is a north London suburb located roughly 10.8 km north of Charing Cross, within the London Borough of Haringey. The district, designated as one of the metropolitan centres in Greater London under the London Plan, is one of the busiest commercial hubs in north London and was previously called the region’s “Golden Mile” by locals. The district has two main shopping areas: The Mall (previously known as Shopping City) and its High Road, which is lined from end to end with all manner of commercial establishments. Housing in the area remains varied, with diverse residential options that are able to cater to a wide range of needs, and there are also a number of open spaces to the north and west of the station that provide ample opportunity for outdoor recreation. Wood Green is served by a generous variety of transport options, with Turnpike Lane tube station and Alexandra Park and Hornsey railway stations sharing much of the district’s traffic with its own London Underground access point and numerous bus routes also serving the area.
