Southwark's residents are located close to a household waste reuse and recycling centre which allows disposal of domestic waste for free. It only takes a quick 3-minute drive to get to the civic amenity site at Devon Street via Old Kent Road, which is open from 9 am to 4 pm daily and accommodates pedestrians, residents arriving in cars, vans and by bike. Hazardous waste and tyres are not accepted at the site, and residents are advised to avoid using the tip on Saturdays as this is peak time. There is also a local recycling centre on Borough High Street which has recycling bins for textiles and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment banks for small electricals and kitchen appliances.
